MHS Homecoming | 2014

For the 1st time in a long time, if ever - the MHS Marching Band kids were able to attend the Homecoming dance tonight. They had rehersal from 7am until 3pm this morning. Managed to get back into the building from outside right when the rain hit. It stopped raining (well - really it just spit a little bit) just long enough for us to jump out and grab some photos of these 2 all dressed up. As fate would have it - they dance was sold out by the time they figured out they could go, so they got dressed up anyway and went out. So, so cute and handsome!

I stopped off at the basin, which has only been empty for a week, to take some sunset photos over the "lake". I managed to make it home and now it has been raining off and on again! Yikes!

Suns Clinic | 2014

Matthew was able to attend a Suns Clinic for the Special Olympics last week. We didn't tell him where we were going, but let him piece it together as we were going. So fun! He had several friends attend it also, so it was an overall great night for him! It's held at the US Airways Center and was put on by the Suns Organization during their week of service. Everyone helping out at the clinic is a member of the Suns organization in some way - from players - current and past - to the offices to the dancers.

The Suns Gorilla came down to make an apperance and entertain the crowd.

This wonderful man was going around to all the Olympians and helping them spin the ball on their fingers!

Matthew's group started out in the practice area first with retired player Steven Hunter. Our guys came up to his waist! LOL! They ran 1 drill with him.

Then they went to the other side of the court to run a different drill with members of the Suns Solar Squad.

Then they returned courtside to run some drills with Miles Plumlee.

Then to the other side with Shavlik Randolph.

It was the 1st year that we've been able to attend this event and it was awesome! The boys had a blast and it was well organized and so fun!

And here he is at the 25mm Medal ceremony. He swam it in :24.05. I only took video of the actual race and then photographed the ceremony...

Here is a photo of the leaderboard after his 50mm race. :53.26! Nice!
His face is priceless in all of these photos! :)

SOAZ Four Peaks Swim Meet | September 12th , 2014 | Unified Race

Matthew competed in the Special Olympics Four Peaks Swim Meet this weekend. He competed in a Unified Realy Race on Friday night with his buddy and his buddies sisters. They took 1st!
1st - a little background. He's been practicing and his buddies big sister has been coaching him some. She loaned him one of her swim caps last weekend, so of course, we had to go to the swim store and get him his own and a good pair of googles that afternoon. Michael Phelps, watch out...

Here he is warming up on Friday night...
