Special Olympics Golf | Nov. 3, 2012

Today, Saturday, was the 1st round of the Championship. Matthew was only competing in the Skills portion. He competed in Short Putt, Long Putt, Chip, Pitch, Irons & Woods. Today they went through each station and recieved a "score" that would help group them with the other athletes that are in their age group. Then they would come back the next day and actually compete.
He received a cap and later on, a t-shirt.

It was a little warm, but such a beautiful day! And a totally gorgeous course by South Mountain over looking Camelback and downtown Phoenix...

We had a fly over...

And a little Tebow action...
I think he was actually lining up his shot - LOL!

There was alot of  high -fiving!

Special Olympics Golf State Championships | Nov. 2, 2012

Friday night, Matthew & I traveled up to Vistal Golf Course for the State Championship Golf Opening Cermonies. We got there about 2 minutes too late to take the team photo, but Matthew was able to march in the parade of athletes.
They had a police escort...

And a bagpiper leading the way.

Finally Mesa's turn to walk...

Several of the sweet athlete's watched over Matthew and kept him with them during the time they lined up until after the ceremony. He was pretty much the youngest one there that night...

31 for 21 | day 32 | 10.31.12

Halloween!!!!
We came right home and carved pumpkins, for we hadn't taken the time to do that yet...
Matthew surprised me by actually digging right into his pumkin's guts this year! He didnt' totally clean it out, but he did way more than he's done in the past...
More than Ryan did, who had me clean his out! ;)

A silly goofy face for Matthew's and a Mesa Jackrabbit for Ryan...

My little prize fighter for Halloween, complete with a "black" eye - which stayed on until after these photos and then he wiped it off! Ack.

The boy next door gave him a pair of his old "real" boxing gloves, but he wouldn't wear them for he couldn't carry his pumpkin pail with them on. So we tied them together and he carried them for about 2 houses. Then the robe ended up coming off about another block up. We don't go too far, for he's done quickly. We go down about a block then head up and back another block, then head home.

31 for 21 | day 31 | 10.30.12

Tonight we had your party for Special Olympics Golf. They had it at Peter Piper Pizza. They had tokens and pizza and soda for everyone. Although, we only saw the tokens. By the time we could get Matthew out of the back play area, everything else was gone and done. LOL! We went to McDonald's and ate before picking up Ry from school from marching band practice...

31 for 21 | day 30 | 10.29.12

I will finish 31 for 21! I will!
Today Miss Lynnette came for OT and the 2 of you made Mummy Dogs! LOL! Hot dogs (I had big ones, so we cute them in half) wrapped up, "mummy style", in crescent rolls, then baked. You actually wrapped them up yourself, which is a pretty big deal!

Then you both played with Jello worms that Miss Lynnette had made and brought from home. The only problem was that they stayed in the cooler in the car too long and were kinda smelted together. But you still dug around. You put your hands in it the 1st time and then had to have a spoon after that.

You did kiss a mummy dog and the worms once each, but that was all we could get. We'll take it though...

Then you played a new game on the iPad for a few minutes...

31 for 21 | day 29 | 10.28.12

Pretty low-key day today. I ran my 12 miles first thing in the morning and then we played catch up with house/laundry/groceries. We got the Toys R Us Big Book of Toys in the paper today and Ryan found that Wii is releasing a Big Time Rush Dance Party game. He showed it to Matthew and Matthew promptly sat down to write a letter to Santa to tell him that's what he wants for Christmas...

Photos from the photo session I had the night before can be seen here, if you'd like...

I stayed for an extra 10 minutes after the session to soak up the beauty...
