P52 : 2010 : Week 43

Oct. 31st, 2010      Happy Halloween!!!!!

To Matthew - we are full on to Christmas now! LOL!

I did manage to get Halloween switched out and Thanksgiving put up today (Sunday). I wanted to get it done while I had time and today was it. So we had Trick or Treaters over with not much Halloween decor out. Since most of it was in the living room where they didn't see - I don't feel bad.

Pretty low key day at home today, yard work, house cleaning, laundry, alot of outdoor playing. A quick trip to the park at dusk for Matthew, home after to shower up and then dinner while answering the door for Trick or Treaters. Matthew took it very seriously - "Myself! Big boy!!!" LOL! Way too cute! He was much better at it than Ryan - telling them "Happy Halloween!" after he put the candy in ("There ya go, Buddy..." he'd say - entirely too cute!)

31 for 21 | Day 31 - October 30th

We met the author/photographer of the beautiful book, "I'm Down With You" today at the Buddy Walk. His photographs are so stunning and we enjoyed talking to him!
He has a wonderful soul, you can just tell...

Of course, our 1st stop were the bouncy's...

I think turned out to be my favorite photo of the entire day...

Matthew got to sit on the ASU police motorcycle!

Ryan drove a robotic arm for a bit... (Matthew did too)

My favorite photo of Ryan from the day...

We ended up getting Matthew (and Ryan) up on the float to ride for the parade. We had already been there almost 2 hours and he was wanting to be on Michael's shoulders, so on the float he went! ;)

When we got to the end of the route, we just pulled over and watched the rest of the parade go by. We taught Matthew how to make the Devil's pitch fork on his fingers and once he figured out that he could get all the parade people going by to cheer by doing it - that's all he did! LOL!

Then we came home, Daddy left for work and we carved pumpkins. Matthew wanted a "happy face", so we went through the patterns until he liked the "happy face"!

He actually dug right in this year and scooped out the pumpkin guts himself, mostly with the scoop, but 2 handfuls with his HAND! That's big my friends!

Once Ryan finally picked out a pattern (a witch with a cauldron), he whipped right through it. Of course this is after he had me scoop out the pumpkin guts for him (didn't want too! - LOL!). And then he added 2 other faces to it too.

Matthew carved and carved. He did the eyebrows himself and most of the mouth, and then I helpd him finish to get it done!

THEN we went trick-or-treating. It was Ryan's 1st year to stay home and pass out candy. He's just tall enough, I thought he'd get some looks - LOL! We thought he and one of the neighborhood boys were going to sit in the driveway and pass it out, but they ended up at the house next door. We put up a note to head over there on our door. Matthew made it down the one big street here that everyone sits outside and then he was ready to go home. He would go up, politely say "Trick or Treat", they would put candy in his pumpkin and he would ask them what it was - LOL! Most people got his humor about it - I hope - LOL! He was just keeping a tally of how much chocolate he got, since that's all he'll eat out of it all! Then he would say "Thank You" and off he would go! We saw quite a few people out that we know, including several kids from my school that I didn't know were in the neighborhood. After the one street, we came home and passed out candy for a little while (only about 5 sets of TorT's) and then it was bed time. I figure we'll get a few more tomorrow night (hopefully - for there is alot of candy left!!!)
Well - today was a long day and I'm off to bed!

31 for 21 | Day 30 - October 29th

Matthew had a get-to-wear-your-Halloween-costume-to-school-day "Literary Character Day" at school today. LOL! he was very excited to bring his costume to school in his backpack and wear it. I was a little disappointed when he wasn't still wearing it when I picked him up - but oh well! His teacher and her co-teacher are quite the Halloween people and I think they had quite the fun Halloween afternoon! These guys were there to greet them this morning along with a few more and a nice table filled with goodies to eat (Hello!?!  Rootbeer floats with dry ice for effect, anyone? Fun, huh?)

After school, Miss Lee came again for music therapy. Then this evening, we went and met Daddy for dinner at Wendy's.
Tomorrow is our Buddy Walk!!! Both Walk's are on the same day this year and with Trick-or-Treating in our neighborhood happening tomorrow night also, we are only going to one. If you are feeling generous and want to donate to Matthew's fundraising page,

Back at ya tomorrow! )

Today you had OT with Miss Lynnette. She brought fun Halloween cupcakes along for you to decorate! So, so cute! She always has the cutest holiday projects for you to do...
So - you stuck, dipped, poked, flattened, frosted and sampled (alot) of M&M's -
until you made this...

Super, duper cute halloween monster cupcakes!!!!!
They tasted good too...   ;)

Then she helped you do your homework pages. I was really impressed when you read 90% of this page of directions yourself and then followed them! Very nice work, dude!

The best Doctor in the field was called in to heal the pumpkin.
