P52 : 2010 : Week 4 + Sunday Ramblings

Jan. 24th, 2010
Ryan and I were able to go to San Deigo, CA this weekend with the H.O.P.E. Club from school. It was a very fast paced weekend! LOL! We left Mesa @ 9:30pm on Friday night. No one slept much for the kids (25 + 3 teachers and 6 adults for a total of 34) were so excited on the way up that they all talked too much. We drove all night on one of those huge charter buses and got to the marina at 4am. At 5am we got on a boat for a Whale Watch, but the water was too choppy to go out to the ocean. So we stayed in the harbour and they brought up ocean life for us to look at (a lobster, sting ray, fish, etc.). We also went to Sea World and Seaport Village that day (they wanted to really wear the kids out before getting to the hotel that night.). The next day we went to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and then back home again on the bus by 8:30pm Sunday night. This is a photo of Ryan in front of the Aquarium, by the whale tail!

This one is from inside Scripps, by the shark exhibit.

This one's from our Whale Watch, the sunrise over downtown San Diego.

(I used some Emily Powers Photology overlays on this that will be available tomorrow with the Feb. Songbird Avenue kit)

I took 1100 photos and am a little overwhelmed to go through them. I know there will be alot to delete, but most of them turned out good and are a great rememberance of our trip. I'll post photos from it here soon.
  • I am sooooooooooo sick of dirt. It seems like all I'm doing for the past few weeks is dusting, seeping, vacuuming and mopping. So sick of it. The backyard was almost dried out from the previous rain and it rained again this week, making it a muddy pit out there again. The dogs go out and the dirt comes back in with them. Not to mention Matthew has a soft spot for it too. Ugh.
  • If I'm not cleaning dirt, I'm doing laundry all weekend. 'Nuff said.
  • I bought new running shoes, and a Nike+ Sportband and sensor last Wed. and still haven't been able to use them. Michael is going in at 6am, which has him leaving the house at 5:30am. That was when I used to leave for my walk and I just can't bring myself to get up before him and get out there at 4:45am. He didn't get home until 11:30pm last night (yep - 16 hour day yesterday), so couldn't got then either. I *think* I might put the boys in the golf cart and then we'll go for a walk here in a bit.
  • Why the new shoes and gear? I am seriously (very seriously) considering the Pat Tillman run in April. Should be a good way to ring in turning 43, right?
  • I tried to call to get Matthew an appointment for shoe inserts and still didn't manage to get him one. Tried to go back to the people we'd orginally gotten his from, but they were closed.
  • Am having fun listening to Matthew giggle while doing the Wii Fit Plus. We got it at WalMart yesterday with a GC. He also purchased Spongebob Season 6 Vol. 1 with his Christmas GC from Grammie (Thanks Grandpy and Grammie!), so he had watched that yesterday and forgotten about the Fit Plus until today.
  • So tired of the boys fighting. The 2 hour tour at WalMart yesterday was sooooo fun.
  • I'm down 3.5 lbs., from 2 weeks ago. I think most of it is from being sick, since I haven't walked or exercised regularly since early Dec., but it was really nice to see that (and motivating).
  • Still need to make Matthew an eye appointment.
  • I have my review at work next week. Hopefully it goes well.
  • I bought a roast yesterday and today it's in the crockpot with potatoes and carrots. YUM!!!! It's beginning to smell really good in here and I can't wait for dinner.
  • Did I mention I'm tired of the dirt?
Well - off to the rest of the day! :)

P52 : 2010 : Week 3

P52 : 2010 : Week 3, originally uploaded by Rynonut Mom.

Jan. 22nd, 2010
Matthew got sick at school yesterday. Then he proceed to throw up at the Doc's office, in the car on the way home, andabout every 30-45 minutes there after. About 6pm it became every hour to hour and a half. Then finally after midnight it stopped. But he's worn out today and I wasn't s...ure he could keep anything down this morning, so we stayed home. Thankfully he's ok now! I took him to the doc's thinking he might have an ear infection, but nope, just plain ole flu.
The dogs are used to sleeping in the front chair when we are gone. Matthew gets out of it and one of them jumps in it as fast as they can! LOL! So - Matthew shared it with Bella for a bit.

The tulips are still pretty, just starting to fade...

We didn't get as much rain as i feared we would! But there's still plenty of standing water that Smokey thinks is his personal playground...

Can you see the rain drop splash?

Tulips & the Dreary Day

Tulips 3, originally uploaded by Rynonut Mom.

While we were at WalMart this morning, I decided these pretty tulips were just the thing to brighten the day.
Played with textures on some of these.

(PinkInkStudio free blog texture on this one)

Ryan has been working on his HO train layout that Gpa built him. Smokey had torn it up some last winter and Ry decided this weekend was a good weekend to work on it. It's kept him busy most of the weekend...

This cutie had to have his photo taken while I had it out for the tulips. With that cute, sweet face (dirt and all), who could resist??

Cayon Photography

We have had the pleasure of knowing Adrian for years now. She is Matthew's ST and he just LOVES her! Due to our common interests, she and I have hit it off and become quite good friends too. We just need more time in the day, so we could chat! LOL! ;)

When she started Canyon Photography this year, we talked about having her photograph our family, for it's so hard to get photos of all 4 of us together (also of Michael and I together), for I'm usually behind the camera. So, this past Nov., she took some of us. I treasure these more than I can say! She shared them on her blog here and on facebook, but I didn't post these here, trying to surprise grandparents with the prints at Christmas (which we did). But I wanted to share them, so - here they are!

This last one was very indicative of how the boys were for her! They were either running around like crazy or bored silly! Ugh! I still love this one for that very reason though!

Thanks again so very much, Adrian!

Digital Artist Magazine Project365 article by Christine Newman

Christine interviewed me for the Dec. issue of Digital Artist Magazine for an article on Project 365. I finally had time today to unzip everything and read the article. It's an extremely well written, thoughtful article for those that are starting out on their P365 journey this year with lots of good tips! I'm quite impressed with the magazine and it's layout too! Very professional with lots of good info. And the digital scrapbooking downloads for this month's issue are huge and yummy!

Anyway - I was so happy to be included in this and thought I'd show off a section of it! Thanks again for thinking of me, Christine!

I'd seen a scrabble tile necklace on Etsy that was like this a month ago. When I went to check on it a couple days ago, it was sold. There are others on sale there, but none that I liked as much. Then I figured, I could make one, silly! I have the soldering stuff, I have the digi supplies. I searched and found the heart & peace flair (both by Gina Cabrera from Digital Design Essentials) and away I went. There is text from the book in the background - the passage on the lion and the lamb. I'd make it a bit smaller if I did it all over, but the soldering is always a treat, so not again! LOL! And it's a little close to the top, but oh well! I love how it turned out!

P52:2010:Week 2

P52:2010:Week 2, originally uploaded by Rynonut Mom.

Report card time! Ryan made straight A's and today he brought home his Lion pin and his certificate! We're very proud of him!

Both boys actually had good report cards, which was very nice to hear! We didn't think Ryan was going to make even all A's & B's and then to find out he made all A's was a very nice surprise! He really studied hard this last quarter. Matthew behavior still needs some improvement when he's in his large class (but he's also not the only one in there having troubles with paying attention), but he's still doing really well for the most part. Math is not his strength yet, but it's something that I have a hard time fitting in at home. We took them to McDonald's for Matthew one night and to a new place Five Guys Burgers for Ryan another night to celebrate.

I went to the doctor today and got meds, so hopefully I'll be feeling better soon. Sore throat, snotty, just yucky. I haven't been eating the best this week and haven't done any excercising, knowing that I needed the rest more. Hopefully next week, I can get back into the routine of it again!

Feels so good to have all the photos updated finally! I kept taking them, but just needed a little time away from the computer. I am so proud to have done a full 2 years of POTD, only having missed 2 days the 1st year. But this year I need to concentrate on other things, so I'm committing to a Project 52 (one photo a week). It was actually hard to not take a photo the 1st few days - LOL! It got to be such a habit for me to look for photo opportunties.

Have a great weekend and make sure to look on down the line for any photos you haven't seen - I posted 10 new photos including this one!

Matthew ended up on PNN with Ryan on this morning! Ryan came out to the playground, got Matthew and then set it all up with the chair and practiced with him some! LOL! Then they were on the air! Matthew was so excited to be included and the school was delighted to see Matthew there too!

Miss Lynette came today and brought this cute hamburger PlayDoh set. You had fun making pickles, fries and a little burger!
We were a little tuckered out and ended up just staying home that night. Ryan set his alarm to wake him up at midnight, so he could say he rang in the New Year. LOL!

Another quiet day, the last with Uncle Paul and Aunt Diane. It was so very nice to see them! We hadn't since there wedding in Nov. of 2008, so it had been awhile. It was a little cooler this day and the boys wanted nothing but to be outside, riding the golf cart and flying the airplanes, so that's what we did for most of the day. Uncle Paul & Aunt Diane fly back home the next morning.

All about the boys day - LOL! Ryan wanted to shoot off rockets (with Uncle Paul here - of course he did!), but it was too windy. We ended up with a couple of those wind up airplanes that they put together and then took to the park! they managed not to loose them in a tree and had a blast!

Uncle Paul and Aunt Diane came in for a visit today! We went to Gma's and Gpa's that evening. Gma made a nice ham dinner and then we opened presents after Michael came over (this was the only day he had to work since the day before Christmas Eve until the 2nd of Jan.). The packages had arrived from Grammie that day too, so we had a lot to open.

361:365, originally uploaded by Rynonut Mom.

I actually forgot to take a photo until the night today! LOL! So I took this nice one of Ryan's Christmas village.

Christmas Day! I really didn't pick up the camera too much this day. I wanted to enjoy it not from behind the lens. Ryan got up and we had to open Matthew's door to wake him up. Once he was up - it was ON! He wanted to open everything right then! We opened our Santa stuff, showered and then Gma & Gpa came over. Matthew was very impatient, but he managed to wait until we'd had our breakfast of French Toast. By the time we were done, he had all the presents out from under the tree and sorted. The boys biggest presents were new Nintendo DS's and new Razor scooters. We tried to go see The Chipmunks:The Squealquel, but the lines were just too long. I made Chicken Enchiladas (still didn't turn out just right, but they tasted good. So - we spent a nice quiet day at home.

Christmas Eve! I wrapped all the presents this afternoon while Daddy was home. So nice to have it all done before dark! 2 presents went under the tree and within 10 minutes, Smokey had Matthew's out the back door and was opening it. The bugger. The boys opened their matching pj's and we put out the goodies for Santa!

One Word + 2010 = focus

I've participated in the one-word challenge for the last couple years, but I don't think I've posted them here. To be honest, I'm not even sure if I remember what they were!
But this year's I'm posting here for the world to see and to keep myself accountable.

a simple word, meaning alot.

2010 } focus

on my family
on my husband
on my sons
on me
on my health
on my body
on running vs walking
on my home
on my photography
on my photography business
on simplifing
on spending

2010 } focus

I stepped down at The DigiChick today. Part of the focus progress. I have tried and tried for more than a year to free up more time to participate more over there (like I used to). But it's just not happening. I finally saw a post from a week ago and it prompted me to push myself out of the nest. It's really hard though. Oct. 5th 2005 to Jan 10th 2010.

2010 } focus

I joined a Biggest Loser Challenge at school this last week. We have a 16 week challenge starting and I vowed to lose 16 #'s in that time. I want to/need to lose more than that, but I wanted to be realistic and not go crazy. I want to get to running instead of my walking. I started taking the dogs with me in the morning. They LOVE it - LOL! - But it's harder on my body, for they (Smokey) are pulling on me. I know it will get better the more they go. And I need to ramp up - faster/longer walks. Ramp it up to running.
I want to run a marathon.
There - I put that out there too. 1/2 marathon by next Jan. (Rock & Roll) Eeeeeekkkkk. We'll see.

2010 } focus

I want to get my photograpy into a business. I want to take photos for others that they love. That they order. That they hang on their walls for all to see. I have the name. I have the bare bones of some of it. I need to ramp it up. I need to focus.

So there

2010 } focus

It's out there for all to see

I went and had lunch with Bill & Diane today and caught up. The boys went to Grandma's. When we got home, Ryan went to a friends for a bit and Matthew climbed up on the fireplace hearth and looked at books.

Only 3 days before Christmas and my cards are finally sent out!
Better late than never...

Miss Adrian brought Matthew a present today - a Spongebob Memory Game! He loves it!!!!! So they played a couple of rounds of it!

It's official. He's taller than me...

Matthew and I went to Lily's Birthday Party today. He, of course, snuck off into her room and proceeded to try to put the clothes on the dog.

These were part of Lily's present that we brought her. I bought them from Jacque and they are soooooo adorable!!!!

We had a busy day today. 1st the DSNetwork's Christmas party. Matthew was soooooo cute with Santa! And then we came home and had Ryan's birthday party! He had 7 of his friends over and they played Wii and PS2. We had some snacks and then cupcakes. I totally let them decorate them as they wanted - choose choc. or van. frosting and then added their choice of sprinkles.

This one's from the photographer that was there. They gave everyone one photo as a gift, which was really nice!
