I went to Target yesterday to shop for a bit. Wanted to pick up a few "me" things for a change. New nail polish, eyeshadow, new b.r.a.s and ended up finding a new pair of shoes. When Jan was here, she bought a pair of these in red and I have had them on my brain ever since. I was waiting until they went on sale, but when I looked yesterday - low and behold - they were on clearance! So - yes - I scooped up a pair! Wore them today, as you can see, and got playground dust all over them. Pesky sand...
Miss Adrian (ST) came today with a new game - a Spongebob edition of Ants in the Pants!
You. Loved. It.
This game may be added onto your (ever growing) Christmas list as you asked for it to play the next day too! :)
And how lucky are you that your therapists think of you when they are out scouting for new therapy toys? Lucky boy...
He likes to rock.
LOL! I hear the back door this morning and in a few minutes, I go out to investigate what he's doing. Yep - dancing on the back porch in his Spongebob pj's, Smokey sitting watch by him like he's trying to figure out what he's dancing to. Just too cute!
Daddy was actually off yesterday and today both! We are loving having him home for 2 days in a row - I think it's been over a month since we'd had that. So today was about catching up. Ryan and I went to WalMart to get pants for him for next weekend. Then Daddy took him to the music store to get the trumpet sheet music to The Raider's March (Indiana Jones). Matthew wanted to swim and go to the park - LOL! So we did! I got this nice shot of Ryan while we were at the park.
My 3 boys...
Music therapy with Miss Lee today! Sometimes I feel like I repeat on these photos of you for Friday is also our school shirt day and you play the piano with her every time - LOL! But today she brought a video recorder and I helped her record your session. She's going to put it on a CD for you, so you can watch it! How fun!
Miss Lynnette brought "Cars" dominoes to play today! You loved it! Of course, after you had played a couple rounds of it, you talked her into building houses with them!
This is the bracelet that I made a few years back - clear (diamond) for my birthstone. I added the awareness ribbon to it when I found out that a very dear friend was diagnosed with cancer. It's a rare form and it's in 3 places, one of which is her lung. The awareness color for lung cancer is clear, which is what brought me to this bracelet. I've been wearing it ever since. I look at it several times during the day, everyday and it makes me think of her. She's been on my mind even more today and I called her for an update. It's such a rare (and thankfully slow growing they think) that they haven't started any treament yet. But they are getting closer to a plan and will begin to attack it soon.
Matthew - your second spelling and reading comprehension tests came back today. You got 100% on BOTH of them and we couldn't be prouder of you!!!!
Miss Adrian (ST) brought an UNO game with her today. Ryan joined the 2 of you and the 3 of you had a ball playing! It didn’t take long for you to get how to play it...
I went out this morning right after Michael left for work and shot this with my new lens. I was wide awake after he left and decided to just get up and have the peace and quiet in the house before the boys woke up.
A rare Mommy and Daddy alone afternoon. Michael's shoes were worn out for work and we needed to go to AZ Mills to replace them. We looked at Kohl's, but couldn't find the same ones. So, we called GMa and asked if she could watch the boys for the afternoon for a bit. We dropped them off around 1:30, went to the Mills, got the shoes, looked for flip flops for Michael without success, went to Tempe Camera a bought a new lens for me and then went to Outback to eat. We had a coupon for a free meal, so it was very nice indeed! And we ran into a friend I hadn't seen in quite awhile there too (we keep up with each other through our blogs). Her daughter had been in Matthew's preschool class.
So nice to have some quiet time together after he's been at work so very much for the last month. We needed it!
Woot! It's all mine! Now I have to list a bunch of my things to pay for it! Watch for that coming up...
9-11-01 was on alot of people's minds today. Ryan watched alot of the specials on the History channel on it today. I tried, but it just still made me so very, very sad. It's not talked about at school anymore like it was in the 1st few years after. Matthew's age is kinda oblivious to it. I was just 3 months pregnant with him when it happened.
Miss Lee came today and brought the wood blocks and the xylophone for you. She had them set up like this, one over the other, and you were in heaven beating on them like they were drums!
I had written 09-09-09 on our door on that day and Ryan had been updating the date the last couple of days. I looked at today's date on the door and he had drawn the picture at the top too. I wrote the "Never Forget" to go with it...
I was taking photos of Matthew playing Wii with Miss Lynnette and captured this one of Ryan. It's not very oftern that I can get a good, smiling photo of him, so it became today's photo!
Here's one of Matthew on the Wii!
I had wanted to take alot more photos of this day - 9-9-09 won't be around again as a date for a very long time! But it just didn't work out. I got this one of the 3 of us on our way to school that morning. It was brown color day in K and picture day at school too...
I took this shot with my phone. This week, the elliptical had a battery go bad on it and I haven't been able to use it. Yeah - I know I could go to the store and buy a new one, but then I usually end up buying much more than just a battery, so I was avoiding it. So - I got my hinny out of bed when Michael gets up and hit the road. Went about a mile total. I'm enjoying the peace and quiet as well as listening to my music on my phone as I'm walking.
President Obama gave a speech today that was broadcast throughout every school in the nation. It caused great controversy, with everyone having an opinion as to if he should do this. I was able to watch it with my K class, but didn't get to hear all of it. The kids were just a little young to sit through it and hold still - LOL! But what I heard of it, I liked.
Miss Adrian brought Potato Heads for you to play with today! You ended up bowling with her poor Potatoes! You put 3 of them down the hallway to the garage and then used your little bowling ball to knock them down! Loud - but pretty funny ot watch! She also brought 3 of her lenses for me to play with! This one was taken with her 85mm 1.8 and I'm in love - will start saving my pennies...
This is a family that I have in my blog reader.
They have a beautiful daughter with Down syndrome and 3 other lovely children and are in the process of adopting a child with Down syndrome from Bulgaria.
They are going to be on the TLC channel on Wed. night! We are going to be sure to try to catch it...
Their local paper did an article on it for today's paper.
The Lego's have re-appeared again. Ryan went to a friend's house on Friday afternoon. They built this cool Lego jail. He picked up his room on Sat. and the Lego's came out again. He built this nice Steam Engine yesterday and today he has built a Santa Fe.
We had a rarity here today! A cooler, cloudy, rainy-in-the-morning day!!!! Yay! Daddy was also home today, making it extra special! We went to eat in the morning - tried a new place called Willy's. Then went to WalMart to buy a few things. And we went to the park in the afternoon - dug in the sand, played some catch with the football and swung on the swings and slide down the slides!
Miss Lee brought bubbles with her for MT today. You had the castanet's and where popping the bubble with them!
This week marks the start of spelling words for you. I was - honestly - really, really worried about how you would do with this. Silly Mommy! We went over them on Tues. and on Wed. I tested you with them. You totally knew all of them but one. "tap" was giving you a little bit of trouble. By Thurs. when Miss Lynette came, you had all of them down with no problem. We tested you while she was here to work on your penmanship. I haven't gotten you test results back yet, so it will be interesting to see how it all went within the classroom.
*edit* You ended up getting a 7/10 on it! Go you!!!! You didn't close up the top of your "a" and it looked like a "u", and you spelled both "tap" and "cap" - pap. Awesome 1st spelling test though!!!!!
Miss Adrian brought "Don't Break the Ice" to play today! You just love playing it and are getting quite good with "resetting" the blocks after they're all knocked down. I had to brib you to do your homework after she left by telling you I would play a couple more games of it with you after you where done!
This is the usual scene after school each day. Ryan runs to the computer to chat with his friends and Matthew runs to turn on Spongebob for a bit. They veg out for a little bit, have a snack, then do homework.
Shot this quick shot of Matthew on the backporch. Still didn't get the light quite just right, but it's ok. Helps to have such a cute subject!
Ryan had out our older Nikon P/S camera this weekend and Matthew confiscated it for a bit in the afternoon. It was kinda cool to walk around behind him and see what caught his eye to photograph. Here he's shooting the playset...
I went to the baby shower of a friend and was able to grab a few (very few) shots of her. I had taken some photos of her while she was pregnant with her 1st, so we tried to re-enact a few of those poses. There wasn't much light, but I thought this one turned out nice...
She's so beautiful!
I have been blessed to meet around 4 or 5 of my "virtual" friends in the last few years! This is Jan Crowley, The Queen of Quirk. She and I have known each other online for, what? Close to 4 years? She came here to visit a friend and we met up for the afternoon. Ate some lunch and then cruised around Target (which gave her a nice blister from her new shoes!). I had so much fun meeting her!!!! She is just as geniune and sweet in person as I have known her to be online! Thanks for meeting me, Jan!

A fairly typical scene for most days. Matthew teasing both the dogs with a bone (or ball, or rope) and then throwing it for them to chase!
I drove through our neighborhood for about 15 minutes before going back to school to pick up the boys. Not too much is blooming right now, except for these gorgeous Mexican Bird of Paradise. It's just too hot for much else...
We had a pretty quiet day at home. Michael was at work and the boys and I went to visit Gma & Gpa for a bit in the afternoon. Matthew & I swam with Gma and Ryan went on house checks with Gpa. When we got home, Ryan got out the GeoTrax and the boys played with it for awhile.
