3 weeks...

Michael has been gone for 3 weeks. To Kansas, to school for Beechcraft. It's been a long 3 weeks and we are very happy that he will be home tomorrow. It's really good that he's been gone in order to learn the plane. I can't imagine him actually learning an entire plane inside and out while being here at home. But man. 3 weeks is a long time. But then, as I type this, I think of Michelle and the other military families out there that would LOVE to only be apart from their loved ones for 3 weeks and I am put back into place again. We are lucky that he was gone for only 3 weeks!

I thought I'd get soooo much accomplished in this last 3 weeks, but alas. Nope - sure didn't. My computer hard drive (in this 10 month old computer) died on me. Luckily, I'd bought a new external hard drive with Christmas money the Sat. before ( my old EHD - 250 G's - is full, so I need a new one), so I was able to heed my computer's notices that the hard drive was dying. I forgot to transfer my fonts, but I had most backed up already from before. It took til Friday for the Dell dude to bring me a new one, spend approx. 10 minutes in my home switching it out and I was surfing again in a few hours.

Then Matthew got strep that weekend. The next week I was just so tired. After I got the house picked up, dishes done, the boys put to bed, e-mails answered, etc. I was just ready to crawl in bed and be done. So - I did. I had all these high hopes of scrapping my heart out - but it didn't happen.

So, tonight I'm trying to play catch up. Got the photos up and done. Ordered some new fun things from Etsy.

I still need to work on the next artwork for Silver Hills, like I mentioned. My (honorary) niece (so stinkin' proud of her!) did a film for them and I ended up building the movie poster for them. It almost ended up as the DVD cover, but didn't happen. Doesn't matter to me - I had a blast doing it! :) Here's a copy of the poster and the link to it at IMDB...

I'm just proud that they liked my work enough (or couldn't find anyone else to do it - ROFL) to have me do more work for them! :)

Found more high school friends on Facebook this week - Fun! So fun to see how everyone is after all this time! One was a really fun find - for he has a daughter who is 4 months older than Matthew - and, get this - has Down syndrome too! What are the odds of that?

There's so much talk of all the budget cuts for the state around here. There's talk that Matthew's services might get cut - the music therapists are in for a 53% cut in their pay! :0 Crazy!!!! And there are lots of budget cuts going into the education system too. The Young Learners program is gone next year, they say. And they are pretty sure that Kindergarten will go back to 1/2 days around here too. If that happens, then my hopes of going back as an aide in one of the K classes at the boys school next year might not happen. Not sure how it's all going to shake down in the end.

It's been really warm here this week - getting up into the low 80's. Nice, but reminds me too much that the heat will be here soon!

Well - it's midnight now. I really need to get to bed. The next few weeks are going to be busy too - Matthew's field trip coming up, Ryan's band concert at school, Matthew's IEP meeting for school and his birthday coming soon! Spring break's coming up soon too! :) Nite!

This is the story of a little boy and shoes that tie. In the weeks following when we bought him these new shoes - he would sit a circle at school and play with the laces nonstop. His teacher and aide understood that he hasn't had tie shoes - velcro is the usual. So, we gave him several weeks to try to get used to them. No avail. I finally gave up and put him back in his old pair. It has been several weeks and I decided to try again. After clearing it with his teacher, I put his old shoes in his backpack on Thursday and sent him to school with the promise of french fries after school if he left them alone. Lasted about 2 minutes at school, I'm told. He asked for FF's after school and I said "No, you didn't leave your shoes alone." So we tried again on Friday. His teacher really stressed the french fries that would be coming and the kids in his class were supporting him too! Success this time!!!! Woot! We did it again with french fries on Monday and then downgraded to a chocolate chip cookie on Tuesday, with success each day. On Wednesday & today - I didn't mention a "prize" just sent him to school. So far - he's still leaving them alone! Yay! Hopefully by next week, we can take out his old shoes from his backpack too! :)

Ryan has been looking for this Lego Mars Mission set everywhere and was super disappointed to find out that it was discontinued. We found it on Ebay (of course) and managed to get it for a very reasonable price. It came today and before I was even in the house from coming home from school, he was building!

We have 3 fruit trees in our front yard - a lemon, a grapefruit and an orange. All 3 are heavy with buds and are just about to burst into flower!

A new Legos Star Wars set for Ryan, paid for with gift card money from Christmas! He then holed up in his room and commensed to setting up lots of little lego "scenes"!

Matthew and his OT played with PlayDoh for this Friday...

Maybe a weird thing to some, but a big, huge thing to us! Mathew has had problems with medicinesince - well, birth. He's gotten shots for anything that he's needed, until this last year. We've gotten him to take it in something and keep it down. This time is huge, for he has taken it straight up! I just had to document it! :)

Ryan had a loose tooth. He somes out from school today and shows me his mouth - minus a tooth! It had come out at lunch today!

Yep - he's feeling better! :)
We were outside playing and he was playing with this rope. The sun was setting and it was so pretty. I got my camera and he started to play peek-a-boo around the tree trunks at me! Such a cutie! So glad he's feeling better!

Orchid tree bloom - so pretty! Diane has this gorgeous tree at her house - right outside of the studio. So - I can look out and see it while I'm there working.

A summary of today in photos.
Got up and immediately searched for which Urgent Care to go to with our new insurance. Luckily, the one that's close does. Filled out the online stuff and realize I have 15 minutes to get ready and out the door to get there when it opens. Throw on clothes and hat, get Peanut dressed and away we go.
Yep. It's strep throat. Off to WalMart to fill his prescription, but realize when we get there it's too early for the pharmacy. Get a few groceries and breakfast. Go home to drop off groceries. Decide to go to CVS instead of back to WM later. Takes forever at CVS, the insurance won't go in right. Finally get meds and go back home. Put meds in soda. Matthew says "Yuck" and won't drink it. I try it. Yuck is right. The 2nd portion I get in his mouth, and he spits it right back out. Talk to him about it and tell him to swallow it. 3rd round is mostly a success!
Cleaning out fridge and realize this pack of cut apples is at it's life and decide to make apple crisp - YUM! Reading alot the last few days, since can't get much else done with Matthew glued to my side. Re-reading a Nora trilogy...

2nd verse, same as the 1st. LOL.
Still a rough day. You seemed to feel better - no getting sick, but you were very clingy. Still very tired. Me too! :) I put you to bed early this night, but you woke up around every 2 hours again. And started saying that your throat hurt.

The next holiday party at school, the next sick day for peanut-pie. He didn't look too good at school, but seemed fine otherwise. I went to lunch, came back and he was in the nurses office waiting for me. Started throwing up late afternoon clear up until the wee hours of the morning. Poor baby...

Ryan also made this heart in the morning. Pretty cool, huh?

Matthew brought home this sweet Valentine from school today - made with his adorable handprint! LOVE it!

Was driving home for lunch and looked up to see snow on the mountains. I took my camera back and after school, the boys and I took a drive to try to get a decent photo. Ended up right back by our house was the best to capture it, but we had a nice drive! :)

I bought tulips for my teachers today. The one that's been subbing, it was her last day and my teacher's 1st day back on Wed. So I bought flowers! :) One was broken off in one of the packets (they come with 7 in a bunch too, for some reason!), so I took one for myself to keep at home to make them even. So pretty in it's simple glass jar...

Matthew's ST brought PlayDoh to play with and he made a snowman (of course). Then he decided to build a bowling alley and rolled one of the balls of PlayDoh at them! LOL!

Ryan's Flat Stanley. He made his a little early so that it could leave on a trip with daddy...

Matthew and his MT had lots of fun blowing bubbles in the air and then catching them while they were dancing around!

Friday was Crazy Hat Day at school, so the boys wore their pirate hats! I wasn't going to take a photo, but Matthew insisted! I bought these hats for them on clearance after halloween at WalMart for like $0.40!

Matthew made this cute heart fish with his OT...

And I got a super sweet, yummy surprise from a student today...

These gorgeous trees are blooming everywhere right now. We are *supposed* to get rain by this weekend, so I knew if I didn't go today, I might not capture them this year...

I'm still taking daily photos, but have hit a road block. My 10 month old computer is giving me hard drive failure notices, so it may be heading back to Dell. It's been acting odd for months now - not waking up when you touch the keys (having to unplug it to wake it back up) and has seemed just really "off" this last week. Then last night and today - several "Windows has detected a hard disk problem" messages. I've done some things here, but doesn't seem to have any results. I'm lucky in several ways right now. I bought a new External Hard Drive last Saturday, since my old one had less than 20GB's left on it and I was able to get the computer up and running this afternoon, backing up what all I needed onto my new hard drive.
So - I will be back as soon as I can! :) But wanted to leave notice in case it's awhile till I return! :)

Well - Flickr won't let me upload this from there for some reason, so here we go...

Matthew's teacher was interviewed about All Day Kindergarten here and the crew filmed it in their room. Needless to say, my little cutie had quite a bit of airtime! :) He got quite a kick from watching himself on TV too - LOL!

This is the note that she sent home with the kids. Obviously - I knew, since we were at school!

Someone was very happy to see himself on the tv...

This is his teacher...
And here you can see me in the red shirt and Ryan right over my shoulder on the left ...
If you want to see the whole thing for some bizzare reason, it's here!
On the same day, The AZ Republic published an article on Substitute Teachers. They had been in the week before to our class taking lots of photos. So these are the kiddos in my room and the teacher that I am working with right now...

The kids were very excited to see themselves in the paper!!!! Here is the link to read the article, if you'd like to...

I was sitting here this morning thinking how nice and warm my travel mug felt in my hand. And then I thought about how it was this fixture in my hand every morning taking the boys to school. Then I thought - I should make this today's photo, and so I did! :)

Matthew was playing with his ST's Pooh set and they had stopped to do his sequence cards. He suddenly let out this huge yawn and laid his head down on her hand. So sweet! Love how his hand is on her's and she bent down to snuggle him a minute!

Go Cards! Didn't turn out like we wanted, but we had a great day anyway with friends and lots of good food!
Ryan asked me for a Cardinals logo and I gave him one ripped out of the newspaper that was about 1.5 inches square. The next I looked up from cooking, he had the Bird all drawn out. He needed help spelling Cardinals, but really well done all in all!
