2 new pages...

Time for bed, but thought I'd post these real quick!
I had this one designed 3 different ways (same elements, just in different places) before I was satisified with it - LOL!

4th Grade - click here to read journaling and see credits.

This one, on the other hand, I did in just about 3 hours! Came together much quicker. It's using a new paper pack, "Hint of Autumn", that Susan will have in the Shoppe tomorrow.Credits: All papers from "Hint of Autumn" paper pack (coming Sat. Journaling reads: In the last 3 weeks, you call out "Michael!" when you are looking for Daddy. You must have picked it up from hearing Mommy call out for Daddy. But it is just way cuter, and pretty funny, coming out of your mouth! We correct you with "Daddy" after you say it, but it hasn't stopped you yet!

I haven't posted that one yet - will do it in the morning!

We went to Makutu's Island with the DSNetwork group on Tuesday night! The boys had a BLAST!!! Apparently they are going back in 2 months and Ryan already can't wait! I took my camera, but didn't take many photos and the ones I took didn't turn out well at all. Oh well!

Still having issues with getting Matthew off the playground in the morning and into line to go into school. Ugh! Once we get to his teacher and he gets her hand, he's ok, but before that. Not good. Will still have to work on that.

Ryan recieved a new train from Grandpa, who recieved it is a gift from someone they know. He went over there this afternoon to play with it, then brought it home. He is next door for a sleepover tonight.

Off to bed! We are going to a swim party SDSA play group tomorrow night, if it doesn't storm. They are saying it's only supposed to be in the 90's for the next few days (insert shocked face here!)!!! I'll believe it when I feel it - LOL! If it is really kinda cool, maybe we'll head to the Zoo on Sunday morning. Or maybe we won't - LOL! Night!

So, the bees...

seem to be mostly gone today.

I went out in the afternoon and couldn't see anything. When Michael woke up, we went out to look again. Ended up getting up on the roof to see what we could see. It's at least a foot long. There are a few bees on it still, but not many at all. There's a huge broken branch above where it's at and it looks like it fell a little farther down the tree and must have disturbed them. When you zoom in on the top photo, you can see lots of places where there are parts started or parts that fell off or something. Not quite sure how we're going to get it all down, for we've heard it all needs to be gone for the bees to not keep coming back to that spot. Michael wants to get on the roof tomorrow and try to pull the broken part down, hopefully knocking it down in the process. But with all those other smaller parts, how do we get those off????

Just amazing...

So - my Rainy Days page got mentioned twice in that stand out thread and the Just One Boy one got mentioned too! Cool! I don't think I've ever been mentioned in those threads at DST before, although I have had a thread shout out for one of Matthew. Quite made my day! :)

Digital...

Finally got my other pages posted today - LOL! Then I did another one within a 1/2 hour...

Here they are...
Rainy Day Fun - please click here for journaling and credits. This one used lots of Meredith Fenwick goodness. It also was chosen in the gallery standouts for this weekend - the 1st time I think that I've been mentioned in there that I know of! Kinda cool, for me at least...

Just One Boy - click here for credits and journaling. did this one using a photo of Matthew going into the school on Tuesday. There were lots of other kids in the photo, so I used a dark vignette photo action by Michelle and then duplicated it into BW and erased Matthew back out so he was still in color.

Back to School - click here for credits and journaling. This one I did just this morning using the new ad inspiration challenge that Yvette posted at TDC. Cute, fun and quick (like 1/2 hour quick)!

Ok - caught up on pages here again....

Houston...

we might have a problem. Can you see that? Can you guess what it is?

We had more chunks of honeycomb on the ground this morning. When Michael came home, he went out to scoop up yesterday's pieces, but the bees were buzzing around quite a bit and there were new pieces. There were pieces on the fence and on our neighbor's side again too. So we left it, so they could settle down again. When he got up this afternoon, we went out again. We did get the pieces all picked up - even ocer the fence. I was looking up, trying to figure out where it's all coming from and I see a dark mass finally. Yep - it's bees. They are really high up there too - had to take this with the 300mm zoom. We thought it was just a hive, but when you bring it up on the computer screen, you can see it's covered in bees. Not sure what to do at this point. They don't seem to be africanized, for I can get right up close to them and took yesterday's photos from litterally 3 inches away from them. We don't want to kill them all, for we've heard there's something funky going on with honey bees and a shortage of them. We're hoping to find a bee keeper that will just come scoop them up. For free would be lovely! They've been up there for 2 months at least, so hoping that they just move on is probally not going to happen for a bit.

Wanted to scrap tonight. Haven't gotten in the groove of it, so will probally go to bed now. Actually watching High School Musical 2 right now - ROFL! Haven't even seen the 1st one yet, but there's nothing on and I wanted to see what all the hype is about. So far - kinda of a mix between Dirty Dancing (summer/vacation/resort/talent show kinda thing) and Grease. I don't get alot of it, for I think it's built on the stuff with the characters and story from the 1st.

Getting Matthew off the playground went really well this morning. He was still the last one off the playground (and I started working on him before the bell rang - LOL), but he went willingly! Yay!

Good night! :)

1st week of school...

is almost over already - goes by so fast!

So let me back up and catch you up with last week, k? So - I'm sure it'll be a long one, unless I give up and do the rest tomorrow - LOL!

Ryan's Meet the Teacher was on last Thursday. Meet Mrs. Chandler...
She has been teaching awhile, but is new to our school! She seems really great! He has his friend from next door in his room for the 1st time ever and lots of his friends from last year too. He will have an agenda/student planner, provided by the school, this year that they will keep track of their assignments and such in. We initial it after he does his homework too - it's pretty cool! After that, we ate a little dinner, dropped Michael off to get ready for work and Ry and I went to KMart to get him a new lunch box. It had to be a "big boy" lunch box - not for kids - LOL! Meaning plain old red one with a matching covered water bottle (not one with Transformers on it or something like that Mom!). Then I dropped him off at G-Ma's and went to the Kindergarten meeting. We had heard earlier that day that they had hired an aide for Matthew (yippee), but no one could tell me anything new yet. At the meeting, I felt a little bad, for the principal asked if anyone was worried about their child's safety at school and I raised my hand. I was thinking more in the terms of him walking off rather than someone swiping him from school. But the principal saw me raise me hand, but of course didn't/couldn't have heard my actual reason. Oh well...

I scrapped these pages, hence why I hadn't blog yet...

Miss Miranda

Mrs. Chandler
I did Matthew's page 1st, but wasn't feeling quite up to coming up with something completely new, so I flipped the page and redid what I needed to with Ry's info and wala!

So - Saturday, Michael and I went tubing with our friends! So much fun! We got there at like 8:30am - they open at 9am, but after we got our tubs, there were enough people to fill a bus, so they dropped us off! We did the full 4 hour tour. My favorite part was that there were wild horses along the way! We saw 3 different groups - so very cool! Of course, I wasn't about to bring either of my digital cameras along, but Amber thought to bring a waterproof one, so she got some photos! I'm hoping to borrow the negatives from her and scan some of them in later! Still have a bruise on my h.i.n.n.y from hitting a rock! LOL! We went so early, there were not many people on the river yet - so it was very nice. Very fun and we will do it again sometime! :)

Sunday we went to the Diamondback game. The boys did really well - we even managed to stay in our seats the whole time (other than food and bathroom trips) - an unheard of feat up until this point! The boys got lots of fun loot and got to run the bases after the game - Cool!

Monday - 1st day of school. We've been on the phone since Friday with the liasion from the school and the new one-on-one aide. Tried to meet her (found out later, we won't supposed to ask for that, let alone call her ourselves - in the past aides have billed the district for phone calls with parents - ugh!), but it didn't work out. Her paperwork and such wasn't going to be ready until Wed., so they let me sub for her on Monday morning! I had so much fun! Matthew was a little bit overwhelmed I think, and wanted me to carry him after music (who apparently hadn't been told anything about Matthew and kept looking at me funny when I stayed though music class. I told him after about subbing, that there would be an aide and that Matthew had DS). Stuff he wouldn't have done with an aide, but would pull with me. Ryan had a great 1st day too!
Tuesday - they had another substitute aide for Matthew. She is his district liasion and stayed with him the whole morning. She came out with nothing but praise for him! Yay! Said she is going to train the aide to be more of a classroom aide, only stepping in when needed, to help continue growing his already strong independence. That is exactly what we want! They were very happy to see that he could color in the lines, draw a face in context and write some of the letters of his name - all things we've all been working on! Michael and I went to breakfast actually that morning and then went shopping at Target for a bit. I cleaned up the craft closet that afternoon and got it all re-organized. I've done a page on Tuesday, but it's not quite finished, so you'll have to wait. :)

Wednesday - His new aide, Lori, started. We met her in the morning. She seems really great! Matthew was coming out of the playground (so cute when he says that word!) and we kinda whipped him off to meet her, which of course, didn't go over too well! So - she was probally wondering what she got herself into at that point. We finally got him settled down, in line and going in the school with her. We came home after dropping them off, had breakfast and then I cleaned the living room carpet while Michael mowed the lawn out back. So nice to get some stuff done around here! While Michael was out there - he saw another huge chunk of honeycomb with bees again! We had a large storm on Monday night, so it must have fallen out then. The bees where flying around like crazy - calm, but flying alot. They have settled down alot today, but we haven't been able to pick it up yet...
Today - We had a much better transition of getting Matthew off the playground and into line - took a bit, but it went better. He still wanted to hold me hand clear into school, but I kept backing up and signing "I love You" and saying bye. Then I helped out in Ryan's room first thing! I really like his teacher from being in the room this morning - she seems quite with it - had them to the Plead of Allegiance, day a paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, and vote on a Class Motto. Kinda fun! She said they could use a few pencil boxes donated for the room and since I wanted to go back to Target - I obliged! Bought me a new pillow for the bed too - my neck has been killing me the last few mornings... Ry's kinda funny with me being there this year - in years past he would make some excuse to get up and come over to where I was working and talk a minute and such. Today he seemed a little shy about me being in there. He was excited about it at home, but a little "off" while I was there. I think with it being 4th grade, there is more expected of them and with it being the 1st week yet - he's a little up tight about it all.

Ryan can be in orchestra this year and he was asking to. But, of course, he's never played an instrument in his life, they don't have enough to go around for everyone and so we might have to rent one then. Plus there's practicing, lessons, music booke, etc. We told him, if he did this, there would be no sports, or scouts, that it would be his extracurricular activity. Personally, I just don't see how they can teach them to play in 2 hours time a week. Even with praticing. Then he wasn't as keen on it. He can try out for band next year, I guess. Since Michael played the trumpet and Uncle Paul the corenet - maybe then. We'll see. I remember being made to learn how to play the piano and pretty much hating it. I hated to practice and that just made it no fun what so ever. As much as he hates to read and do homework, I can't imagine trying to get him to practice cello on top of that! And then he wouldn't get good and would want to drop out. I just don't know. I hate that he just can't try it out, but it doesn't seem to be a good idea...

Here's another page I did last week. Click here for journaling and credits. I had fun with the letters and the animals - so fun! It's white on the side, so that when it's printed out, it will look like negative space. I did another page last week too, but haven't posted it yet either (I'll do both of them tomorrow - I'm used to doing it in the morning 1st thing and my mornings are thrown off now, going to school). Michael is being the forman for the next few weeks at work, so he's leaving around 5pm each night. Long work days for him...

Still hot. What's new - huh? Had a dust/wind storm tonight, but that was it. It did rain with the storm on Monday night. I did get up and unplug my computer, just in case - LOL!

And in Digital -

TDC came out with Homeroom today! Oh my! LOVE this kit! My Tuesday page is with it, so will link it later...
There is also a cool QP album available here.

Susan has a new fantastic collection up at SSD - Beantown Collection! It is soooo very beautiful! I have it in my hot little hands, but haven't done any pages yet - probally tomorrow. Really kinda sad. I've been on her team for almost 2 years now and my term will come to and end on the 31st of this month. She has decided to to 4 month terms with her Sous-Chefs and is putting out a call for a new team. You can see the call here, if you're interested. I'm sure she's going to get alot of applicants.
I'm really sad, for I love her stuff, but I figure it's time to spread my wings a little and see what else is avilable out there. I also stepped down from Michelle's action team too. I found myself not using them enough to do her justice, so stepped down. I've wanted to apply for other CT calls and for some guest CT spots, but felt I wouldn't have the time to devote to them, so didn't. So now will be my chance. And I figure, if I have less things that I have to get done, I might have more time to just scrap for the fun of it and can concentrate on getting more pages published. And it's not like I have a shortage of kits to scrap with - LOL!

Wow - so did you make it to the end? It's almost 11pm here now and I need to get to bed and try out that new pillow! Have a great night!

I know, I know...

I worry for no reason most of the time.

We got a call from Matthew's PS teacher on Monday morning. She had gotten 2 phone calls. One from the district saying that they had Matthew all ready for a self contained classroom at some other school. She was like, no- he is going to his home school and is main streamed with an IEP in place since April. She asked if we had gotten any calls, which we hadn't (and we worried some at this point). The other call she received was from her student teacher from last year saying she had been hired on at our home school and has Matthew in her room this year! Yay! I was very excited to hear this, for she had been in Matthew's class for at least a month at the end of the school year last year, knows him and was very excited to hear that he was in her room this year!!!! We got a phone call from the Kindergarten team on Tues. saying the same thing - that he was in her room. They are interviewing one-on-one aides in the next few days, and will hopefully hire someone in the next few days to be his aide. We told him that Miss M___ would be his teacher this year at Ryan's school and he repeated her name back and was excited! We asked him again the next day if he was ready to go to school and meet his teacher and he said "Miss M___" without us telling him her name again - he had remembered it! :) Made me soooo happy! Today - we made sure we got there early to be first in the room and he walked in like he owned the place - LOL! He did really good in the 20 minutes they were in there. The special needs co-ordinater came into the room to meet him and see him. The other K teacher that we've been working with came over to meet him. The principal came by and remembered us (I don't think he'll forget me soon after crying in his office that 1st time - LOL). All in all a GREAT day! We are ready for school on Monday!
Isn't she cute???? If they don't have an aide for him on the 1st day, I told them I could come in and volunteer if they'd like, so we'll see what happens...
Matthew has been a parrot lately - just repeating everything anyone says (yes - even the bad word that Michael said in from of him accidently the other day - ROFL! He doesn't seem to remember that word though - at least yet!). Kinda funny! His enunciation is really good when he's doing it though - so really good! He's still a gameboy/playstation freak right now - Spongeboy games especially.
Ryan is ready to meet his teacher tomorrow. He got to pick lunch today and we went to Chili's. Yum! :) We went to a new one up the road a ways. After that we drove up to BOB - ok so it's Chase Field now, I know - and bought tickets for Sunday's game. The man at the ticket counter misunderstood and got us 4 tickets for Sat.'s game, not Sunday's like we requested. Sunday they will get a free backpack and get to run the bases, so we want to got then. So - he refunded them, got us tickets for Sunday and got us a really good deal - told us about a thing to sign up for that will give the boys a t-shirt and lanyard and got them free tickets to the game! Cool!!! Then we loaded up and came home.
Ryan got his new shoes. We went to Kohl's and found him a really nice pair of New Balance's that were a great price and in orange/navy!
I got my new bling. She just handed me a new one in a baggie that was already bent and ready to go. Came home, took out the old one and put in the new one! Woot! No swelling either - double yay!
Sun came back out yesterday and it is getting H-O-T again! Yuck! Humidity has dropped back to like 15% - more like normal. So now it will all build back up yet again...
Michael and I are going tubing with friends on Sat. Lived here in the valley for what - 10 years - and have never been. I never been in my life, I don't think! Should be interesting...
K - I want to scrap, LOL, so I'm outta here!!! :)

Sunday, Sunday...

It's acutally cloudy outside right now! Weather's been kinda weird lately... really humid for here. We have had alot of clouds lately, not that I'm complaining about that! I took the boys out to play last night and it was actually decent out there.

We're just hanging out so far this morning. Michael will be up in a bit and then we may go out back to do some yard work. No bees again so far!

So - my nose bling. I looked Thurs. night at it and was cleaning it. The crystal has fallen out of the stud. WT?????? So now there's this empty spot where it should be and it's bugging me - LOL! So I'm going to try to get in today or tomorrow and see if they can change it out. You're supposed to wait at least 4 months to change it out (which will be Aug. 26th), but maybe they can do it early. I also am ready to get my hair cut again. I really like how she did it this time, but want her to go a little shorter! Ryan still needs new shoes before school, so that's on the agenda for the next few days too! They start a week from tomorrow! Still nervous about Matthew's new teacher, if they have an aide for him, who it is and if all this is going to be good! The usual me lately. Worry it to death before and then sigh of relief when it's all good. And it's usually all good! Ryan is stil on huge train kick. Waiting for his train table from Grandpa, building endless layouts in his playroom! Matthew seems to have settled in again with his therapies. It's hard in summer, for Ryan is home for them and Matthew wants Ryan to do them with him. But then he gets really distracted by Ryan being there - LOL! He got really squirrelly at the end of last month and we had to drop working with signing the ABC's and days of the week with him. He seems to have these kinds of periods before he explodes with a huge learning spurt, so we'll see how it goes...

I did a page last night. Had been wanting to scrap everynight since Wed. night, but it just didn't happen. I had this super cute kit from Jennifer and this is what came out of it...
Bling Me - see credits and journaling here.
Don't forget about the challenge running at the Songbird Avenue blog right now! It ends this Friday night at 10pm EST.
Almost done with reading High Noon. Well - I'm hungry so off to get breakfast!

Last night...

We actually got some rain again. Another nice steady 1.5 hour soaker. Can you see the drop?

Then the sky did this...

Straight out of the camera sunset goodness. Gotta love that! :)

The new August kit is up at Songbird Avenue! This month's guest designer is none other than Robin Carlton!! I always feel such a warm fuzzy feelings for Robin since we did The DigiChick Apprentice contest together almost 2 years ago...

This month's kit is called Dreamsicle and it's proceeds will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation! We are currently running a little blog contest with the kit, so check it out here! :)

And here's the page that I did with it...

I want to scrap really bad right now, but I don't have anything that's leaping out at me at the moment. Started High Noon, Nora Roberts newest novel today. It's really good so far! :)

Nite! :)

And this one makes four...

I had another request for a page for Digital Scrapbooking Magazine for their Dec./Jan. issue!!!!

YAY!!!!!!

That make 4 pages that I will have published!!!! HURRAY!!!!

I thought that I'd missed having one for this issue. I'd been watching a saw toots starting last Thurs. or so and thought they were all done. Then I got an e-mail today in my inbox requesting one!!!! She thought she'd sent it to me and then realized she hadn't! HURRAY!!!!!
So far I've been in every other issue (mind you only one issue's with mine in it has gone to print so far...), so this one breaks that. I had my first one in the June/July 2007 DSM, the next 2 will be in the Oct./Nov. issue of DSM and then in the Dec./Jan issue!!! I'm just so excited! :)
