Howdy do?

To you and you! LOL!
Quick post - tired and need to get to bed...

We got back from a 10 day vacation to VT on Tuesday. Was supposed to be home on Sat., but something happened and the flights closed up. Being as we were 3 hours from the airport with a rental car, we opted to wait it out. Had to fly home from Boston via Viva Las Vegas to Phoenix. Added about 2+ hours to our trip. Lovely. So - 2.5 hours in the car to the rental place, .5+ at rental place, 1.5 in airport checking in and waiting, 5 hour flight, 1 at Vegas airport (was supposed to be like 4+ hours, but we found an empty flight that was on a maintenance delay and took it instead), 1 hour home and .5 getting back to our car at lot. Oh, and .5 to get home. Then there was the 1.5 hour trip that Michael and Ryan took back to the airport to get our luggage that didn't know we were going to get on an earlier flight - ROFL!

We had a great time in nice, cool VT. Played outside ALOT! Watched our niece and Michael's sister play softball, watched our niece graduate from 6th Grade, drove around alot since anything and everything is around 1/2 hour away - LOL! Took 431 photos (that I kept). And I didn't have the camera out that much - LOL! Lots of softball photos... Will share photos next week...

Have 2 new pages done... one on Wed. and one earlier today. Can't post one until Songbird puts up the new kit ;), but here's the other. Haven't even posted it to the galleries yet, will do so tomorrow... Lots of new goodies from Susan at SSD here...

Journaling reads: One of the two things you wanted to do while in VT this year for vacation was to play in the river. And play we did!We took one afternoon and took the two of you down to the river and walked around in it. Matthew losing his flip flops in the water and you running after it was only part of the fun! You found this stick and used it as you’re walking stick. You got dirty, more than a little wet after Daddy dunked you and had fun seeing the little fish and tadpoles in the water!

Got some (very) happy mail today in the form of a check from Creating Keepsakes for the 2 pages they've requested for the Oct./Nov. issue! Woot!!!!! Of course, then I did the checkbook, and well, so much for that...

That reminds me I was going to submit some things to them and haven't yet... wonder if it's too late?

K... I'm going to check on that and then head to bed, dude! Seriously...

It's hot and some pages!

The heat has arrived here. We can't really complain, I don't think, for it's mid-June and it's just starting to be hairdryer H-O-T, hot! It's been around 109 all week - ugh! We have entered the time of all the blinds staying closed in the house to keep out the heat and not setting foot outside unless we have to. Still going over to G-Ma's to swim quite a bit. Let's the boys get some energy out... Trying to keep the flowers watered outside, so they will survive a bit longer. I always hope they'll make it through the summer, but it's just too hot and I don't get out there as much as I should to water them either. We went out at 9am the other morning and I was all sweaty within 10 minutes. Yuck!

We took my Dad out for lunch yesterday. They are going to Vegas on Sunday, so we wouldn't see them. He's been collecting the cars from Cars (the movie), so we got him another one of them. We had taken family photos when my brother was here, so I was trying to find a frame to print those out and put them in. Mom said they had plenty of 8x10 frames, so I ended up doing this instead...

Not the utter best photos of all - we had just came back from the pool and all have "pool hair", but we were together and it's been entirely too long since we had photos together!
I used Shabby Princess goodies for this... Festival and Shabby Mommy.

I got a few pages done also, only 1 was this week - the others I guess I just didn't post here yet, silly me!
D & M using that photo I love! You can see the journaling and credits here.

Desert in Bloom. I have all these beautiful (I think) photos that I've taken the last month of so of the cactus in bloom. I never know quite what to do with them, LOL! I've printed out a few for our walls at home, but they just seem wasted. So the "Back in Black" color challenge at TDC seemed perfect for showcasing them. You can see the credits here. I love to use a darker background to really make photos "pop" off the page!

And, lastely, I did get my hair cut on Thursday!
Not quite as short as the photos I showed you, but still shorter! I love it! I also dung out a highlighting kit that I had and did a little of that to it! I got scared after a bit, because the kit was really old and I was worried I was going to screw up my hair, LOL! So I didn't leave it on very long and it's very subtle. Not very blonde, but lighter.

Well - It'll be some time next week before I get back here, I'm sure, so have a good one! :)

A twit, overwhelmed, Father's Day and procrastinating...

I have a ton of things that I have to do before Saturday, and here I sit - LOL! Need to print out photos & layouts, laundry, go to the library, hopefully get my haircut (I'm kinda thinking really short like this - what do you think?) and a ton of other things...
We had Father's Day for Michael today - a little early. We surprised him - which was fun to do! Gave him all his gifts (a Tony Stewart shirt, camp chair, and cooler; new shorts and a shirt), got some breakfast and then, after the ST came for therapy, took the boys to G-Ma's and went to buy him new flip flops, have lunch at Outback and went to the new Bass Pro Shop for fun (he bought a few things for his gun there too). He still has one present coming tomorrow. Maybe I'll same that one for him to open on Sunday...

I Twitter now too - for those who do! Here's mine! Short quick "Whatcha doing" posts - kinda like IM'ing someone...
Quick one of the little cutie blowing bubbles with his ST's today! Bubbles are always good!

Well - I know I had more to say, but can't think of any of it! Off to finish the page I started on Monday and never finished!!!

Gifts...

I recieved my copy of Gifts in the mail last week. Sooooo excited to see it in print by such a fabulous publisher! Online it shows that it is in stock at the Barnes and Noble around the corner from me, so I can't wait to go and check it out on the shelves there. Some of the authors are featured in an interview here. I thought it was such a great interview! The book has already sold out of it's first publishing and they are doing a second printing already! So exciting!!!!

I know this is all rambling a bit, but I woke up to an e-mail from Gina this morning and the book has been on my mind today. I e-mailed her around a year ago about the story and the book, but hadn't brought it up since then, waiting for the Woodbine printings to go live (which is this week!). This morning she e-mailed me saying "I also have to tell you about the sweetest experience I had the other day. I opened a package from Woodbine house knowing full well it would be a book they'd give me for my lending library for which I am grateful. I picked it up "Gifts" and it immediately opened to the picture of Matthew. I did a double taking thinking how much this cute little boy looked like our Matthew. I thought I was going to bust my buttons when I read your name as the author! I was SO proud!!!!" How fun is that?!? And she has ordered 100 copies to put into the new parent packets that she gives out to new families!!! I feel so proud! :)

I had a call today for a graphic arts job. I felt so unworthy. You try to explain about how your digital scrapbooking has kinda kept me in the loop, but to a professional person, I felt like I sounded so unprofessional. I just felt so unprofessional. I'm just not sure how digital scrapbooking sounds to someone that has no idea what it is. It's alos so hard sometimes to want to do work, but when they real off programs, you know there's no way you could even acquire them to do work for them. Then you have to rebuild what they want in what you have and, well, that take time - more time than they want to pay for usually. And just how excatly do you present digital pages for a professional graphics job? Just doesn't seem like it would work... I have a hard time understanding what still is professional and what crosses the line to unprofessionalism now. I just feel so "casual", KWIM? With some luck, it might lead somewhere. I'm sending her a letter (on some nice PS'd letterhead - LOL!) with some samples of my recent work. Then we'll just have to see if I'm what she's looking for...

We surprised my parents this week and flew my brother in for my dad's birthday. I dearly wish that I had brought my camera when we dropped him at their door on Tuesday night. The look on my dad's face was priceless. Utterly priceless. He answered the door with his company "Hello" and then he realized who it was! Priceless! Poor Paul must have felt torn in many directions though. Ryan was so very, very excited that he was he, he could stop talking. I just laughed. You'd ask him to sotp for a minute and he just couldn't! :) They shot off rockets at the park again, drove the GoKart and we went swimming. Then we left them to do whatever for the rest of the day. Poor Matthew knows who Uncle Paul is, but hardly gets any time with him, for Ryan is just so excited. They hadn't seen him in over a year and a half. We've got to get him back here for longer or somehow get us up there. I miss you alot, Paul! Thanks for coming!!!
Although, you'd never know how excited Ryan was from this photo - LOL!Ryan's BB team is in a tournament now, post season. They won 2 of 3 of their last season games. We were very pleasantly surprised that they won their 1st tournament game too! But then, Thursday night, in that last possible moments, they lost. Bummer. Still have one game on Monday night and if they win it, they play again.
We had a really nice time on Monday. Had 2 other couples over with kids. The kids all played nicely and we were able to have nice adult conversations! Soooooo nice! They were here from noon until 8pm too! Loved it! :) Nope didn't even bring the camera out, missed a few photos, but oh well!
Went quading with some of those friends last Sat. morning! Ryan actually got on their dirt bike and rode it!!!! We were sooooo proud of him! He even crashed it (over the handbars from what Mochael said - I was up on the hill taking photos and couldn't see him from where I was) and got back on it again. I did a page, of course...
Credits and journaling here... using some new fire elements from Susan...
I just love this photo...

More new pages...
Sting Rays can be seen here...
Braids can be seen here... Done with the wonderful new kit by Susan Bartolini for Sweet Shoppe Designs...

And last but not least, the newest kit by Songbird Avenue is available! Petites Fluers is such a pretty kit! The thing that I really like about this kit (and the last one) is that they work so well for boys and girls! Love that! The fabulous Dianne Rigdon is the guest artist for this month and the proceeds go to the American Diabetes Association!
See credits here...
This was the other prject that I had been working on for a few weeks. I made this little scrapbook for Matthew's teacher and filled it with the best of the photos that I had taken over the years in her room. She cried when she got it, so I know she like it! LOL!

You can see it here...

So uninspired lately. Wanted to scrap all this week, but it just isn't there. I haven't had as much time and when I do have the time, I just sit here surfing. I know I'll have a new round of CT stuff to do soon, but I really want to just scrap. But it's just not there for some reason. Photos aren't speaking to me, kits aren't speaking to me, just no mojo...

It's getting hot here slowly, which is no fun too. Still just around the 100's, so actually still nice. The boys and I went out around 7pm tonight for about 1/2 hour and it wasn't bad. Still cooling off in the nights fairly nicely, so it helps. I still have flowers out front, which is a miracle too - LOL! Have all the blinds shut during the day to keep the heat out. Hate that...

Been reading alot! I can do that with the family around and they don't mind it like when I'm on the computer for some reason. Read before bed when DH is at work too... Lots of Nora Roberts right now...

We are talking about going to VT here in a bit to visit. Michael has asked off from work, so we just have to check the flights now and see when we can get there... That will be nice! :)

All right... I'm off to bed! See ya!
