that he slept in ALL night for the 1st time. He has still been in his crib till Saturday night. We've had this bed out for months now... but everytime we tried, he wasn't going for sleeping in it. We went to put him in bed and Michael put him in his big boy bed. Michael stayed with him and I was shocked when he came out not even 10 minutes later.
This is the railing that I had to go by on Saturday to keep him in the bed at night. He rolled off onto the floor 3 times during the night. He was ok and didn't even wake up, but a bigger rail than what was on there was in order! Can you see him through it?
This is the Little People Train set that we came home with in addition to the rail. Of course once you set foot in a used kid store... you find all kids of treasures. So we came home with the train set (pictured with it is other various LP stuff that we already had), a Wiggles video, cleats for Ryan (because we signed him up for the fall baseball league), a shirt for Ryan, a Captain Underpants book and the following...
So - if there's anyone out there interested in digi...
This is an awesome digital scrapbooking website that I frequent! She is an awesome person (yes, I can say that about someone I've never personally met!) and has alot in store for this great website. I can't wait to see that changes (Aug. 10th).
There is a totally awesome sale going on right now to hearld in the new changes. Those that know me, know that I love a good sale!
So, if you're interested... pop on over!
We went to the library today to turn in the boys Summer Reading Program. They got lots of little goodies and a voucher for a ticket to see a Diamondbacks Baseball Game. I'm not sure if we will actually use the vouchers, but Michael is going to take Ryan to a game on Aug. 4th. Ryan actually liked doing the program this year. He and Theo talked about it and asked about it before it started. Ryan wrote his books out on his list himself this year too! We have been reading the Magic Tree House series since the end of last year. It's about a brother and sister that find a magic tree house filled with books that takes them on advertures to save more books. They kind of have a Camelot theme with King Arthur and Morgan Le Fay having parts in it. I love reading them to Ryan and miss it when Michael does that nights reading.
I used the Promos4DigitalScrappers Love4Literacy Kit.
This summer we once again enrolled both boys in Reading Your Way to the Ballpark at the public library. They read 36 books in Matthews case or 36 20-minute increments in Ryans case. Every 6 sections, they would be able to get a prize. A sticker, a sticky foot, a dinosaur ruler, a flying ring, a hacky sack ball, and the final prize - a ticket voucher for a Diamondback game! This was the 1st year that Ryan was bringing the books to me to read to him. It will probally be one of the last too - next year he should be reading to me! We have been reading the Magic Tree House series with Ryan. Its such a cool series about abrother and sister and the magic adverntures they go on. Matthew doesnt have a just one favorite yet, but as you can see, he does seem to like the taste of them!
I went and got Evan's book today! I think that it's is so very cool that my Best Friend in the whole wide world has a publised author for a husband!! I am so proud of him! I stood right there in the isle and snapped photos like a fool, grinning from ear to ear! It is his 1st book, with at least 2 more (that I know of) coming out later. This is his passion, his dream and it's coming true for him! That is just so cool!
So if you need a summer read, this is a great mystery novel by Evan. You can find it at Borders or Amazon. Go get it!
Ok - so kinda crappy picture, but you get the idea of the new hairdo. I've been trying to get it cut again forever! I finally got over to where my friend, Donna Moran, is now cutting hair at a Fantastic Sams, and made an appointment! I'm so excited that she's cutting hair again and that she's working 10 minutes down the rode, not 45 minutes! My hair is cut way short in back and swings down toward the front. I had it cut this way last summer, abut didn't like it. Donna cut it a little different than then, and so far, I like it!
Ha! I finally found out how to change me header in Blogger!!! Lindsay Teague had the directions posted on her blog. I tried last night, but couldn't get it to work. But tonight, ha! I have it! I'm not sure if I like the black, so I may try to get it back to the white, we'll see.
Mom called us on Monday afternoon and told us that she had been given 2 tickets to the AZ Diamondbacks game by our friend Brent Porter. She and Dad didn't want to go - but she wanted Michael and I to go and she would come over and watch the boys for us!!! Very cool! So we got to go to our 1st game of the season this year. Michael went with his Dad and I think with Ryan once during Spring Training, but I haven't gone with him this year. It was SO nice! Brent has awesome seats in the 3rd level but right off the home plate just toward 3rd base (he's had these same seats since the 1st season). They are in the 1st row, so they have a great view! I have friends, Gary and Rob, who have also had the same seats since the beginning. I used to work with them at Pennysaver, when I worked. We could see their seats from ours... so I went down and said hi to them at the 7th inning. I hadn't seen them since I was pregnant with Matthew - it had been that long. So it was fun to catch up with them a little. It was such a nice relaxing time. No problem - no worries!!
This is a layout from the chat at Second Mile Designs from tonight. It's from a kit called Endless Summer by the DigiChick and Second Mile Designs.
Journaling reads: This was Matthews 1st year to color eggs. He was so cute to watch! He so very carefully put the eggs in & out of the dye. Ryan had more color on his hands than Matthew did! I always want to savor doing the eggs. Leave them in to get rich colors. But with my boys - it seems to be a race. Before I know it, they are done, and we have to wait till next year!
It was such a pastel kit - that it took me awhile to figure out which pictures to use with it. It was also before we had the DRebel. But I was happy with it when it was done!
Not much else going on here.
Have I mentioned that it's H O T ? 115 or so?
We have an above ground pool and we're having a hard time with it. The water in it is so warm that the clorine just won't stay. No fun at all!
Michael worked 5am to 5 pm this week. There's tons of overtime available, so he's picking up some shifts in the next few weeks. It sucks for him though, because when it's 115 - it's hotter yet on flight line! Someone passed out from the heat there today!
Got Ryan a new backpack for school today. Only 4 more weeks to go. He's starting to count down the days and get excited too. Am trying to get a supply list to get supplies, but hard to figure out where to get one.
Matthew is back and forth on the nap thing. We have 3 of the 4 therapists in place weekly and the 4th will be starting within 2 weeks. He seems so tired now that they have restarted, we may have to try naps again. He sleep for Michael on Thursday when I was at work and then didn't fall asleep until 9:30 pm. We'll see.
Well, off to bed. Michael's snoozing in bed already. Have a great day everyone!
is rocking my world tonight!
My all time favorite band picks a new lead singer!
I have listened to INXS since probally around 1983 and Shabooh Shabaah came out. I can remember hearing in 1997 when Michael Hutchence was found dead and being so very sad about that. Thinking what a waste of an awesome singer. INXS brings back sooo many feelings to me... my high school and early college years when everything was so free and changing. I still have some of their CD's. I know when I originally bought all of these in the 80's - I bought cassette tapes. Then later on I replaced them with CD's. Of course, I just had to go check and I had Shabooh Shabaah, The Swing, Live Baby Live, and the Greatest Hits. I think I shall be listening to some on my way to work on Thursday. I realized while I was digging through our CD's that a) we have alot of good cd's that we just don't listen too anymore. We need to again. And b) We have alot of CD's that aren't good that we won't ever listen too again. LOL!
This show brings together 2 of my favorite things... INXS and reality TV. I had goosebumps at several parts of the show. "It's like church with alcohol" - a little irrevervant of a statement, but it's a quote from tonight's show. It's on tomorrow and Wed. night too this week. Of course if it comes up against Lost on Wed. night... I think Lost is going to win out !
We had a hard start on Monday morning. I had as much packed as I could by the time Michael got home on Sunday night at 6pm. We got up in the morning, finished up the little things and packed the van. I needed to take videos back to the library - so we drove over there - but even their drop off boxes were closed due to the holiday. So we go to Krispy Kreme for breakfast and I try to hook up the mini DVD player. The cord won't work. We think that it's the wrong one - so we head back home to find the right one. At home, we discover that it's the right one - it's just missing pieces that we can't find. We leave again (leaving my new sunglasses behind) and head down the road. It's about a hour after we left the 1st time already! The drive actually goes fairly well... the boys only fight a little and even survive the trip the old fashioned way! There are 2 ways to get to Pinetop from our house - we choose one and go. Of course it's the scenic route, we find out! Really beautiful, but very up and down and back and forth! Matthew didn't seem to like that part very much! We get there at about 1:30pm. Check in time is at 4pm. We were aware of this, but were hoping that it would be open earlier. There's a nice kid's play section and a game room in the lobby that we make use of. By 3:30 - it's not ready and we decided to go eat. When we get back at 4:30ish - everything is ready. Diane's paintings were hanging in the lobby and the get-together room. There were also 2 in our room. The room is VERY nice! It has a full kitchen (oven/stove, dishwasher, fridge), kitchen table, living room and separate bedroom. We go swimming to get the kids kinks out. Very nice Rec center with an indoor pool, raquetball, basketball, pingpong, and weight room. Then the tiredness kicks in with the kids. Ryan gets upset because we figure out that there are no fireworks close by. Everything is at least 1/2 hour away and we have no clear idea of where. We tell him he can stay up and we'll watch in on TV with popcorn. That works. We forgot to bring the port-a-crib, and Matthew decides he is not going to sleep. We try with Ryan in the pull-out couch, with us, in a chair - nothing works. Finally at around 1:30am, I get him a drink and he lays down on the floor. My light bulb goes on and I put a blanket on the floor next to our bed. Success! The next day we have the Resort deliver a crib for him! There was a mini-golf/go-kart track down by ShowLow that we went to. Ryan loved it and we ended up going back on Thursday, too. I saw Woodland Lake Park online and we went there one evening. 1 mile walk around this gorgeous lake. Beautiful!!! We just had a very wonderful time together! We swam everyday, tried to have fun and rest some too. The tempatures were so different from here in the valley - here 115 - there 85. It was so nice to be able to go do things outside and not roast! We got up at 5am this morning to leave by 6 to get back so that Michael could get to work by 11am to work till 11pm! We went the other way home. This way brings us through Heber/Overguaard where wild fires destroyed so much. There was a at least 30 mile stretch were the trees were burned on both sides of the highway. So VERY sad. It was so interesting both way how you go from the desert to the cool pine trees and how the landscape changes. So fun that a mere 3 hours away lies such a vastly different world than the desert one that we live in... and that it's still in the state of Arizona!
It's good and bad to be back home. The vacation seemed so short and we were sad to have to leave to come back. And then to have Michael leave to work right away wasn't fun. I have to admit I was worried about the house this time more than usual... fires and such. My cell phone didn't work at the resort - no reception. So we had only 2 phone calls the whole time. I got on the internet 1 time for 20 minutes (they had an e-mail station at the lobby - 20 minutes for $1). I didn't miss it TOO much! It was nice not to have to feel like I needed to get up to do laundry or clean or cook or anything. But now of course, home means those things again.
Well photos follow! More (by Ryan) to come tomorrow!
This is a layout I did for the DigiChick's BW Color Challenge for this week. It looks alot like last week's layout - but oh well. That's just the way it went! :) Elements by DigiChick, Shabby Princess and Digital Design Elements - all desaturated in PS7 to get them BW.
I got it and my WLC layout done last night with a little time this morning. I am really having fun with the digital format for scrapbooking. It's so much easier and fast right now for me. Something not the right size - I change the size instead of searching for something else. Something the wrong color - I can change that too! There is so much out there for elements and paper packs. So much is free or so very reasonable too. And with having gone to the drebel for a camera - it's so easy to input it into the layout. I'm lovin' it!
